FAQs

Are you working during the pandemic?

Yes, I am offering online therapy via Zoom to all clients during lockdown and can continue to do so to ensure the safety for those who are at risk or are unable to leave their homes.

How many sessions will I need?

That depends on what you are looking for. I would recommend a minimum of 6-8 session, as it might take a while for us to establish a relationship that is therapeutic. You might then choose to continue therapy for how ever long it feels useful. Many clients find long-term counselling beneficial.

How do I get started?

If we agree to work together, we would meet weekly, on the same day, at the same time for 50 minutes. You would be encouraged to share your thoughts, feelings, hopes and dreams about experiences and relationships, past and present when you are ready to do so. Therapy is a gently process of discovery; it is a journey we would go on together, at your pace.

But the issues I have are not on your list …

My ‘list’ is just a guideline, so please don’t hesitate to contact me with whatever is troubling you. If I felt my skill set didn’t meet your needs, I would try and point you in the right direction. And sometimes it is hard to put what is going on for you into a specific box.

There are many people who are so much worse off than me …

Your experience is just as valid as anybody else’s. Everybody deserves to be heard.

What happens if I have to miss a session?

48 hours’ notice is required to cancel a session. If you give less notice than this, I will endeavour to find another time within the same week that is convenient to both of us. If this is not possible, however, then the fee may still be charged.

What happens if I am late?

Just let me know that you are still planning on attending your session but might be late. We would then have a shorter session as I won’t be able to go over our allocated time.

How do I pay?

Payment can be made via bank transfer. Payment is expected to be made promptly after each session. If we agree to work together for longer than 8 weeks, payment can be made at the end of the month.

I think I might need antidepressants, can you prescribe them?

Psychotherapists and counsellors do not diagnose psychiatric conditions or prescribe medication. However, if I believed that was the support you needed, I would be able to point you in the right direction.
