How I work

I will offer you a safe, caring space to be heard and will explore with you, without judgement, the things that are troubling you.

My Approach

My approach is integrative-relational, which means I draw on different theoretical models to support my work. I believe past events and relationships impact people; they influence how you view yourself and others and can cause destructive thoughts and patterns of behaviour.

I also believe that the relationship between you and your therapist is fundamental to enable change. A warm, respectful, trusting relationship will help you to feel safe enough to examine painful and difficult issues. Such a relationship can help you to expand your awareness, gain a greater insight into yourself and your relationship with others and find new ways forward.

Our Relationship

I understand how daunting it may feel to start therapy and the choice of therapist is an important one, so I offer a no-commitment initial consultation for you to get a sense of me and decide whether my way of working feels right for you.

If we agree to work together, we would meet weekly, on the same day, at the same time for 50 minutes. You would be encouraged to share your thoughts, feelings, hopes and dreams about experiences and relationships, past and present when you are ready to do so. Therapy is a gently process of discovery; it is a journey we would go on together, at your pace.

What clients have said

Clients have said that during their sessions with me they have felt comfortable enough to open up, work through difficult feelings and see things for what they are.

Some have said that they felt I was the one person who truly listened to them and the first person who allowed them to express much of what they had always needed and wanted to express.

Others have said that during our work together they were able to reach a better understanding of themselves without feeling judged, odd or unbalanced, and that this in turn helped them to become more compassionate towards themselves and find acceptance.
