Privacy policy.
I am a member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and I abide by its code of ethics, a copy of which can be made available on request
As required by the BACP, I attend regular supervision with a clinical supervisor with whom I discuss my work. This is standard practice and ensures that I work ethically and to the best of my abilities. Your anonymity will always be protected and my supervisor is bound by the same code of ethics and confidentiality as I am.
Our sessions are completely confidential except in the following circumstances:
If I believe that you or anyone else is at risk of harm, I reserve the right to break confidentiality to prevent harm. I would only do this in extreme circumstances and would always try to discuss it with you first before taking action.
If required by a court of law to give evidence (e.g. in criminal proceedings).
If we agree to work together, I would give you my privacy notice and ask you to sign a therapy agreement which specifies the date, time and place our sessions would take place. It confirms my fee, when and how it is payable and what happens if a session is missed. I would ask you to provide the following information about yourself: your name, address, contact number, email address, date of birth, GP details with any relevant medical information. In line with the DATA Protection Act 2018, my privacy notice details what data of yours I keep and for how long, as well as how it is protected and stored.
